More than an investor.
When MVC took a minority stake and board position in Dakota Growers in 2004, the maker of private label pastas was essentially looking for liquidity and a partner with Wall Street ties. Dakota Growers is an example of the Tokarz Group’s philosophy of taking more than a financial interest in its investments. We have provided capital market advisory, financial advisory, patent advisement, logistics and supply chain analysis, brand development and marketing to Dakota Growers. For example, we suggested new methods and metrics the company could use as key performance indicators for itself and its competitors. And we have given Dakota Growers careful legal advice on patent and R&D matters.
Getting to know Dakota.
Emblematic of many Tokarz Group relationships is that several of our advisors attend the board meetings in Carrington, North Dakota, each month and Mike Tokarz himself now owns rural property in the state, putting him among the 1,000 state farmers who are the other Dakota Growers shareholders. The company is delighted to have such an involved investor, and it shows in Dakota Growers’ performance and prospects.
On May 6, 2010, MVC Capital announced the closing of the sale of Dakota Growers to Viterra. READ MORE.
